About me
I walked into my first round of interviews at the University of Oxford at 18. I knew I did not stand a chance, and I hadn’t even opened my mouth yet.
Hi, I’m Mareike Wiedmann, PhD – career coach, ally and founder of FrauLeadership.
High-performing women deserve to be seen, heard & recognised — while staying true to themselves.
I learned that women can be brilliant yet face environments stacked against them. And that the power in the room can determine outcomes more than ability and competence alone.
I can’t stand unfair systems, so I built confidence and opportunity pathways that move women into senior roles.
Luckily, I had two additional interviews at Oxford and I got in because I could show what I was capable of. I want all women to have the tools so that they can make confident transitions based on who they are and what they are capable of.
My coaching sessions are open to whatever your background and your nationality, as long as the time-zones allow it.
My experience
- I support ambitious women with a background in STEM (Pharma, Biotech, Research, and beyond). I help them get clear on what they want and to be seen, heard and recognised by becoming visible to decision-makers.
- I have successfully completed training as a systemic business and life coach at the Coaching Academy Berlin, which is internationally certified by the European Coaching Association (ECA). I am passionate about coaching because I know first-hand how powerful and empowering coaching can be. A professional qualification is important to me so that I can offer you the best possible coaching experience.
- I have a completed undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Cambridge and know what it is like to be a woman working in science.
- I previously worked as the Head of Research Pipeline Development at an international and innovative biotech company in the Pharma Industry with the aim to bring new cancer medicines to the patient. I have leadership experience from both Big Pharma and in a fast-paced start-up environment. I am a working mum and understand what it’s like to juggle professional and personal life.
- I have an international mindset and am passionate about discovering the world we live in and the people we share this planet with and have so far lived and worked in the UK, China, Japan & Germany.
- A coaching session with me is non-judgemental, empowering, empathetic, and honest. I will push you and challenge you, yet with kindness and empathy, and always with positive intentions at heart. I have experience working with ambitious women at all career stages, from postdocs to members of executive leadership teams.
