But it is not sufficient.<\/p>\n<p>I think we have all seen examples of colleagues who do visibility wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Constantly highlighting every little thing, they did that day. Over-inflating challenges and impact. Taking credit for other people&#8217;s contributions.<\/p>\n<p>It works for a while. And then people start playing bingo every time they hear the same phrases.<\/p>\n<p>That is not the kind of visibility I am talking about.<\/p>\n<p>What I am talking about is this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Know the people you need to do your job well. These are the people you should interact with regularly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Know who cares about the impact and results of your work. Keep them informed \u2013 whether it is the weekly 1:1 or a short email update highlighting not the tasks you completed, but the results, the impact, the direction, and what is next.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Know which meetings matter for you. If you are not in them yet \u2013 ask how to get there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Know the departments at the interface of your work. Reach out to them. Have occasional, but regular, conversations. We all benefit from understanding what is happening elsewhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Know who is well-connected in your company.
