This month, I had a dentist appointment, and while explaining to the dental assistant that I had a check-up first, but that my husband was up next\u2014and that he\u2019d be bringing our baby\u2014she was surprised. \ud83e\uddb7\ud83d\udc76

The first surprise was that my husband was bringing the baby. The second came when I mentioned that I had returned to work and my husband was currently on parental leave. When she asked, \u201cAnd he manages to take care of the baby all day on his own?\u201d I simply replied, \u201cWell, if I managed for the last 5 months, he can definitely handle the next 5 months too.\u201d \ud83d\udcaa

She laughed and said she appreciated having something new to think about for the day. \ud83d\udca1

For me, it\u2019s completely normal for my husband and me to support each other so that we can both pursue our careers and care for our family. Of course, every family has their own way of doing things, and that\u2019s perfectly fine. I\u2019m grateful that in our partnership, we can and do prioritize and share equal time with our children.
